Important Information For Candidates for the May 1, 2021 General Election

The Town of Bartonville appreciates your consideration and interest to run for an elected official position.  On May 1, 2021, the Town of Bartonville will be holding a General election for the citizens to elect three persons to the positions of Places 1, 3 and 5.  Each position is for a two (2) year term of office.   

Qualifications

All candidates for office must be citizens of the United States, have lived in the state for a minimum of one year prior to the filing deadline, be a resident of the Town of Bartonville for six months prior to the filing deadline, be a registered voter of the territory elected from as of the filing deadline, and be minimum of 18 years of age.

General Election

The first day to file for a place on the ballot is January 13, 2021.  The Town Secretary’s Office will begin accepting applications at 1941 E. Jeter Road, Bartonville, Texas for the above-mentioned places Wednesday, January 13, 2021 through Friday, February 12, 2021.   Applications will be accepted during the business week between the following hours:  Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on February 12, 2021.)

The Town Secretary will be most happy to help you in any she can during your candidacy, however, the responsibility for compliance with the Election Laws and the Finance Filing Guide for Local Candidates and Officeholders belongs solely to the candidate. The Texas Ethics Commission is responsible for interpreting Campaign Finance Law (Title 15). Once you have filed your application with the Town Secretary, you will utilize the following forms during the campaign.

  • Candidate/Officeholder Campaign Finance Report
    • Form C/OH[PDF]
    • Instruction Guide[PDF]
      These forms are to be filed with the Town Secretary on dates specified on the form. There is a modified reporting statement for those candidates not planning to spend more than $500.00. Candidates are encouraged to pay close attention to their expense forms. Per Texas Law, these forms are considered public record.

    This form is to be filed at the end of the election or when you are no longer receiving or spending political contributions
